How to Deal With Error Codes E71 and E72 on the Xbox 360 Game Console With Red Ring of Death

The light circle on the front of your Xbox 360 is a good indicator of how your Xbox 360 game console is functioning.  If the lights are green, everything is working well and as expected.  But when you’re faced with red lights on the front of your console, you’re dealing with the “Red Ring of Death.”

When you get red lights on your Xbox 360, you’re looking at a possible variety of issues.  But if your television is telling you a specific error code, you can generally troubleshoot the error yourself and get your Xbox 360 up and running again.
If you’re faced with an E71 or E72 error on your Xbox 360, the problems lies within Xam.xex.  This is generally an error dealing with your dashboard.  You will need to reset your console with console reset codes, which can be found online.  This requires resetting your primary storage device.
